this girl says it best

I came across a myspace and stumbled across a blog, and although I have absolutely no idea who this girl is, I can't help but read her words. She's very articulate, free spirited, and unique. Even though our lives are different and we don't seem like very similar individuals, I enjoy her take on the world and viewing it through her camera lens [she's a pretty talented photographer]. So I've sorta become an avid reader and have taken her entries almost as advice or insights from a friend. And I couldn't agree with this more:

there is something uniquly special and equally scary when you put yourself out there like that. all the words of your heart and quirky shades of your life are depicted on a computer screen for the world to see. and there are no garuntees that anyone will understand it, or that they will agree with you. hell! no one may ever even see it!!! but that is not why you do it. you share becasue you simply must. it helps. it helps you endure your shitty day, till something better comes along. it helps you put into words the things you can not describe. it helps you capture a feeling you can't bear to let go of... endure, then growth. that is the plan.

It's a snowy day in Cincinnati

and I'm editing my blog, again. This website has the cutest backgrounds, so I wanted to give credit, since I removed the site badge. They have cute banners to match, but I have yet to get them to work on my blog. They will also be designing whole templates soon, and I'm excited to see what they'll come up with.

This is another good one, too. I think the last background I had was from this website.

I'm also jamming to this cd at present:
Photobucket
It's one of my favorite albums from 2009. Say Anything's lyrics are always clever and catchy. There isn't a single track that I don't like. Every song is great and has a line that just sticks with you. Probably one of my favorites: "I love life, but life as a boyfriend" haha I love when music has the ability to make you laugh because the lyrics are witty and completely out there. I'm amazed at musicians' talent. So if you haven't yet, listen to this freaking cd already!

I wish I lived in Orlando for this reason only

New year...

New blog(ish). My other blog for whatever reason would not edit my template the way I wanted so I made a new one. Pretty sad? Haha I don't care. That kind of stuff bugs me and I spent forever trying to figure out what the deal is. I tried editing the html, but I'm not always so good with that stuff.

Anywho, I'm hoping to start updating this more often. I've been doing a bit more journaling (the hand written kind) because my church sends out these daily bible verses to read and reflect upon, called The Daily (go figure). I'm already months behind, but I plan on making a better habit of that as well. I suppose that is my main 'goal' for 2010.

I have a lot of other things to concentrate around school, but I don't want to call them goals because school already stresses me out enough as it is. Speaking of which, I'm headed off to my first day of classes after winter break. I don't really feel refreshed even though I had 3 weeks off. I'm just ready to be done and have a normal schedule.

I want so badly to believe there is truth..

I get this awful feeling when I think I'm being lied to and unfortunately I'm usually right. People are often careless when spouting their lies that they are easily figured out. What kills me is that it's the same people lying to me who are also complaining to me about being lied to by other friends. Do we really not see our own hypocrisy? Do we really learn nothing from past experiences and the crap others put us through? And it seems silly to me that we lie about little, unimportant things; something that really wouldn't bother us had you just said the truth in the first place. Usually these lies spawn from selfish desires and wanting to not "hurt someone's feelings." You want to not hurt my feelings? Be the first human being capable of owning up to the selfishness we all possess and tell me the truth. Or better yet, stick to your word.

At Crossroads last week they were talking about commitment and cited hip hop song lyrics of "my word is bond." The literal translation of this goes a ways back before hip hop when people would actually sell stock or make deals with people and simply saying they were going to do it was reassurance enough that they wouldn't go back on their word. My word is bond; if I say I'm going to do something, it's done; no question. Could you imagine that? I completely laugh at the idea of that being even the slightest possibility these days.

God calls us to be "yes is yes" and "no is no" people. When we back out on our commitments we don't know what opportunity we have missed to forge a friendship, impact a life, or gain a connection that will benefit us in the future. It's like karma, for those of you who may not care what God has to say on the subject. It's often said that doing the right thing can be hard, but the things in life we work the hardest for are always the most rewarding because we've gained a sense of pride for accomplishing the task. So, yeah, maybe keeping our commitments isn't always easy, but then again choosing our commitments shouldn't be done hastily either. If you don't have all the intention in the world of keeping your word, then don't even open your mouth.

Ponder this: "Simply let your 'Yes' be 'Yes,' and your 'No,' 'No'; anything beyond this comes from the evil one." - Matthew 5:37
